Under a star-filled sky, she is standing in a field facing the mountain. Long, pink grass meets her at the knees and is gently swaying in the night breeze. He is seen walking towards her from the side. It is their first time together, but they do not want the night to end. They know it is getting late, but they want to stay a little longer, for just a little while. Young love can seem foolish as they share the sentiment “Maybe we could run away and leave all other things behind”. Being close together, still seems too far away. Even though the night is winding down, a little longer they stay.
Fast forward a few years and they are living their life to the fullest together: wedding, children, adventures, and other life experiences. We get glimpses of the good and bad, all a part of one life.
Then the day comes. One is lying in bed, weathered by the years and unable to go much further. Hooked up to a monitor, it starts to slow as the breathing does. The partner looks on with a fulfilled life, but a deep sadness for what is to come. “I know it’s far too late, but what if you can stay. Just a little longer, just for a little while”. Although they have been so close for so long, the distance was always still too far.
We then move through the window of their room and see out into the night where another young couple stand under that same starlit sky wading in the listing pink grass.
